Artist Bio:

My name is Travis Galbraith. I have played the violin since the age of four, year 1986. I began studying the viola at the age of 13, when entering into the eighth grade. My visual art skills came later at the age of nineteen, when I began studying at an American music conservatory in Cleveland, Ohio, The Cleveland Institute of Music. While studying viola performance at the school, I suffered a major mental breakdown and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. My drawing became a way to express my inner-most thoughts as I navigated schizophrenia while attending the conservatory. I also kept a journal of writing. Anyway, I went on to complete my bachelor’s degree in viola performance at the school in Ohio. I then returned to Houston, my place of birth, and pursued a Master’s degree from the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, also in viola performance. I received the degree in 2008, with a 3.85 GPA; all schooling was completed without medication of any sort. It should be said, that in 2006, just before Thanksgiving, I had a profound experience involving the Holy Spirit while reading the Bible. I have never looked back on the illness.

Since beginning to draw, I have completed well over 100 works of all sizes. I have shown at Galveston’s Artwalk at the Emporium at Eiband’s. Also, I was chosen to be the Artist of the Month by Houston’s Classical Revolution. I am appreciative of any opportunity I am given to show my work.

Regarding my musical endeavors, I was a member of the Tomatz Graduate Quartet while attending the Moores School of Music. I have played in professional orchestras throughout the Gulf Coast Region. I have taught violin and viola students in the Houston area for over five years. My studies have led me to performances in Leipzig, Germany and various cities in China, including Beijing and Shanghai. Again, I am appreciative of all the opportunities I have had to share in this beautiful way.

Ah, and now, the revelation of the name “Treasureblaze”. It came to me as a pseudonym for my song-writing. I began writing songs also at the conservatory. In the year 2020, while attending a therapeutic community in Asheville, North Carolina, I was given the name “Treasureblaze” as it was delivered to me one night while attending a writer’s group. I applied the name to my second album of songs, released on all major digital platforms in December of 2020. The album is entitled “Lonely One”, by Treasureblaze. In the following years I came up with the idea to create cards featuring my artwork. It seemed appropriate that these cards be given the pseudonym as well, Cards by Treasureblaze. These days, my art, my cards, my furniture and my song-writing all share the familiar name. When asked why I chose the name, I stated, “when I sing, I am blazing a treasure, the treasure being the lyrics, the blazing being my voice singing the melodic line.” Maybe you’ll need to hear my music to discover what I am trying to convey. Amen. Thank you.
